Chapter Summary
In Chapter 2 of The Giver, Jonas continues his training as the Receiver of Memory. He meets with the Giver, who begins to transmit memories to him. Jonas experiences his first memory, a sled ride down a snowy hill, and is amazed by the new sensations and emotions he feels. The Giver explains the importance of memories and how they have been taken away from the rest of the community. Jonas starts to understand the weight of his role and the burden he will carry as the Receiver.
